Undergraduate Program
Yale College, the undergraduate division of Yale University, offers a Bachelor of Arts degree program with a major in art. Students may concentrate on a medium such as painting/printmaking, sculpture, graphic design, photography, or filmmaking. Suggested program guidelines and specific requirements for the various areas of concentration are available from the director of undergraduate studies (DUS) and departmental faculty. Undergraduate applicants wishing to major in art at Yale must apply to Yale College directly.
Students in this major will develop an understanding of the visual arts through a studio-based curriculum, apply fundamentals of art across a variety of media and disciplines, relate the practice of making art to the fields of art history and theory, and gain a high level of proficiency in at least one artistic discipline. Summer Programs
The Yale School of Art offers three separate summer programs. All offer students with a demonstrated passion for art-making the opportunity to pursue their craft alongside a specific cohort of students and within a given locale. The Yale Norfolk School of Art
The Yale Norfolk School of Art is a six-week undergraduate intensive summer residency program for 26 rising seniors. The school is located on the picturesque Ellen Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk, Connecticut and is supported by the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Trust. The Trust generously subsidizes much of the cost of attendance.

The Artist Collective Summer School
The Artist Collective Summer School is designed to be an informal, flexible and lively programme of activities and events, in which the participating students and attendees will take a leading role. It is intended to provide the opportunity for art-students and art-historians to learn from each other, and for Yale-based students to spend time with their UK-based peers and with other members of the UK’s art community.
Yale Summer Session
Yale Summer Session provides academically rigorous and innovative undergraduate programs and courses to Yale and visiting students across platforms and around the world. Students come to Yale Summer Session to take Yale College courses in New Haven, online, or abroad or to hone their craft at the Yale Writers’ Workshop or in the Summer Drama Program.
