Tiri Kananuruk is a Thai artist and educator whose work explores the manipulation of sound, the disruption of time, and the ways technologies reshape meaning and communication. She uses mistakes, both human and machine, as a means of improvisation, examining the relationships between bodies, technologies, and systems.
Her work has been supported and presented by institutions and festivals including the National Gallery Singapore; Singapore Art Museum; ATT19, Thailand; Hinum Megin, Iceland; Tropical Futures Institute, Philippines; Gwangju Art & Tech Festival, Korea; CultureHub, New York Live Arts, Roulette Intermedium, and Judson Memorial Church, New York, among others.
She is a founding member of NUUM collective and co-founder of MORAKANA with Sebastián Morales. MORAKANA has presented work at the New York Latin American Art Triennial and received the Lumen Prize Gold Award in 2025. Kananuruk has been an artist-in-residence at Mana Contemporary (2019), CultureHub (2020), Barnard Movement Lab (2020), Media Art Exploration (2021), the Bio-Instrumentation Fellowship at Genspace, New York (2025), Haystack Labs (2025), and was a NEW INC member (Y10-11).
Kananuruk has taught at the School for Poetic Computation and New York University and is currently a faculty member in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art. Her teaching and research focus on computation as a material and experimental practice, with an emphasis on improvisation, technological systems, and alternative modes of communication.
