Yale School of Art

Program

The Yale School of Art comprises four distinct programs: Painting and Printmaking, Photography, Graphic Design, and Sculpture. While each program holds its own pedagogy and culture, all are committed to excellence in practice. The School of Art also hosts Yale College’s undergraduate studies program and several summer programs. Additionally, the School’s courses are open to students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and other professional schools of the University, and School of Art students may enroll in elective courses in the Graduate School and other professional schools as well as in the College with permission. All students may draw on the resources of Yale University courses, conferences, films, lectures, museums, and libraries.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are an important part of the MFA experience, and the School of Art galleries provide a year-round forum for the exhibition of work by students, faculty, and special guests in the four graduate departments of the School and the undergraduate program.

Green Hall Gallery at 1156 Chapel Street is the central curricular exhibition space, and 32 Edgewood Gallery is a supplemental exhibition space that is activated by School of Art students and faculty. The School of Art also manages a community art space at 63 Audubon that is available for student participation and projects.
