The Yale School of Art is pleased to invite applications for our first full-time Director of Sustainable Equity and Inclusion:
The Yale School of Art seeks its first full-time Director of Sustainable Equity and Inclusion to lead long-term systemic change work. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Art, the Director will oversee the continued development and implementation of the School’s mission to uphold values of diversity, equity, belonging, respect, and anti-racism. The Director will integrate new and existing initiatives and procedures into a cohesive platform that supports the school’s diverse community. The Director will guide the School of Art in expanding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) through programming, scholarship, hiring, and broad engagement with students, faculty, and staff. Working with the Dean’s Office and senior leadership, the Director will develop strategies to recruit and retain students, faculty, and staff from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. The incumbent will have vision and a record of creating programs to improve the quality of student life and academic engagement, reconceptualize the curriculum to include Non-Western forms of artmaking and knowledge production and build a sustainable culture of equity and anti-racism amongst students, faculty, and staff. The Director will work with students, staff, and faculty across a spectrum of backgrounds, including historically marginalized groups and international students to identify areas of attention and concern. With leadership, they will form evaluation metrics to assess and report on the school’s progress. The Director will develop sustainable lectures, programs, workshops that foster belonging, build community, and expand relationships with Yale’s Cultural Centers and Affinity Groups.
