Suzanne McClelland has exhibited her work extensively in the United States and abroad since the 1990s. Her practice includes both large-scale paintings and works on paper, often extracting fragments of speech or text from various political and cultural sources and exploring the symbolic and material possibilities in the gap between language and physical experience. Her work has been in solo presentations at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia, The University Art Museum at SUNY Albany, The Orlando Museum of Art, and The Whitney Museum of American Art Philip Morris. McClelland participated in the Whitney Biennial in both 1993 and 2014. Her paintings are held in numerous public collections, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Yale University Art Gallery, The Albright-Knox Gallery, and The Walker Art Center.

Awards and residencies include PS1/ Clocktower, Nancy Graves Foundation Grant, American Academy of Arts and Letters, AWAW Award, Lab Grant residencies with Urban Glass and Dieu Donne, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Recently her work appeared in group exhibitions at Tetsuo’s Garage/ Nikko, Japan, curated by Anne Eastman; The Pulitzer Arts Foundation, curated by Glenn Ligon; The Wexner Center for the Arts, curated by Michael Goodson; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, curated by Jennifer Farrell; Marlborough Contemporary, curated by Leo Fitzpatrick; and at Barbara Gladstone Gallery, curated by Miciah Hussey. team gallery, Inc. published her monograph 36-24-36 in 2016, with an essay contribution by Thierry de Duve. McClelland released artbooks Net Worth and knock knock with Space Sisters Press in 2018. McClelland is represented by team gallery, Inc. and Shane Campbell Gallery.
