Paulina Pobocha, Critic
Paulina Pobocha received her B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University in 2000 and her M.A. in 2003 from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, where she is now completing her doctoral dissertation. Since 2008, Ms. Pobocha has been working in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art, New York where she helped organize the 2009 Gabriel Orozco exhibition, the 2010 Abstract Expressionist New York exhibition, and where she most recently participated in the reinstallation of the Museum’s permanent collection of work from 1940 to 1980. Prior to joining the curatorial staff of The Museum of Modern Art, Ms. Pobocha was a Joan Tisch Teaching Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York where she lectured on a broad range of contemporary and modern art. Her writing on Gabriel Orozco, Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, R.H. Quaytman, contemporary art in Central Europe, and Abstract Expressionism has appeared in a variety of publications and exhibition catalogues. She was appointed critic in the School of Art in 2011.
