Ms. Steele received a B.A. in photography from Bard College in 2003 after studies at Northwestern University, Massachusetts College of Art and Instituto Allende. She was the recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in 2004, The Saint Botolph Club Foundation Grant in 2005, and was given Honorable Mention in the Artist Wanted: The Power of Self competition in 2010. She began working as assistant and studio manager to Stephen Shore in 2004, and has been working in the photography department at Bard College since 2005. Her artistic practice embraces a multitude of mediums, including photography, video, performance and installation. Her work has been shown at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bard College, Meridian Gallery (San Francisco, CA), Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center (NYC), The Stone (NYC), The Tank (NYC), House of Yes (NYC) and various other venues around the New York City and the Hudson Valley. Ms. Steele was appointed lecturer in photography at Yale in 2011.
