ABOUT

As a conceptual satellite to Diving into the Wreck, and for remainder of the Autumn semester, the E. Gallery has been expropriated, in part, as a student platform. Graduate M.F.A. students have the opportunity to book the location for what, for the interim, will be referred to as:

E. I. K.

Booking periods are available from 24 hrs. – 72 hrs. inclusive of installation/deinstallation time.* No rules have yet been drafted as to how to restrict your activity, which would waste everyone’s precious time, although there are few conditions:

That the activity, event, exhibition represents a collective effort and a feat of self- organization

That there is no budget available for realizing, mounting, dismounting, advertising, etc. No money. None.

That the project is free of entrance, inclusive of all publics, and respectful of human civil rights

That, as Sam says (or someone else said to him), “you leave the desert as you found it.”

That in this period of offer YSA is not blamed for not having set out the rules of the game

–M. K.

HOW TO REQUEST THE SPACE:

Download, print and fill out the form below to request to use E.I.K. for your event.

Please returned completed form to Alex Adams, Facilities Supervisor #122, Yale School of Art, 1156 Chapel Street.

When your request is approved your event will be added to the Calendar. Please do not edit the calendar directly—we need your information so we can get you door access to the space!

You may request up to 72 hrs and must note what will take place there. For instance the times, a blurb, a title or theme, etc.

It is intended that all E.I.K. events are public, except class sessions.

EIK is not merely a rental space at the SoA. It is intended as a space for short terms events and projects around Critical Practice and for SoA students and faculty.
