David Reed, Painter

Mr. Reed studied at the New York Studio School and Reed College in Portland, Oregon where he earned a BA in 1968. He moved permanently to Lower Manhattan in 1971, where he continues to live and work. Recent exhibitions have been at Peder Lund in Oslo (along with photographs by William Eggleston), Galerie SchmidtMaczollek in Cologne and Peter Blum Soho (works on paper). Upcoming exhibitions include Galeria Marta Cervera, Madrid, and the Kunstmuseum Bonn. He is the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, the Skowhegan Medal for Painting and the Ursula Blickle Stiftung Kunstf├Ârderpreis f├╝r Malerei. He was the advisor for the exhibition “High Times, Hard Times: New York Painting 1967-1975” which was curated by Katy Siegel. Mr. Reed was appointed critic in painting/printmaking in 2011.
