Claire Barliant, Writer

Ms. Barliant is a 2004 graduate of the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and was a critic-in-residence at the CORE Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 2005 and a writer-in-residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Florida, in 2011. She has worked as an associate editor of Artforum and executive editor of Modern Painters. Her writing has appeared in Triple Canopy, Time Out New York, Artforum, and Art in America, as well as numerous catalogues; she is a regular contributor to the art section of The New Yorker’s “Goings On About Town.” She has given public lectures at the 2010 College Art Association conference and at Dia:Beacon. She is currently an adjunct professor at New York University and Parsons, School for Design. Ms. Barliant was appointed critic in sculpture at Yale in 2011.
