ART 649 CRITICAL ISSUES SEMINAR

SCULPTURE, Art 649b, Critical Issues Seminar: Writings by Artists

The course will examine critical writings by artists. The course will begin with a general introduction to the recent history of artists’ writings, from the 60s to the present. Each student is asked to research and present writing by an artist of their choice. Readings may be chosen from an expanded reading list provided by the instructor, or students may propose their own reading choices, with the approval of the instructor. Each student will also be asked to write two short critical pieces, one in relation to their own work, another in relation to the work of a fellow student.
