ART 525 DRAWING MATERIALS

PAINTING / PRINTMAKING, Art 525b, Drawing Materials
C220 GREEN, R 2:00-5:00

Through rigorous studio work, this course examines the relationship of different drawing media to the content and activity of drawing. Students will experiment with a broad range of materials and techniques (silver point, pastel, graphite, pen and ink, etc.) used on a variety of ground preparations. They will also explore making and using uniquely developed materials, such as David Smith’s ink-and-egg medium. Studio work will be complemented by the study of works on paper at the Yale University Art Gallery, a collection of over 10,000 drawings ranging from the fifteenth century to the present. Limited enrollment. Undergraduates welcome with the permission of the instructor.
