PAINTING / PRINTMAKING Art 231, Introductory Painting

A rigorous introduction to form and content in painting starting with structured observational study and ending with student-directed projects. Emphasis is on the syntax of composition, color, and space in a wide range of historical and contemporary painting, both representational and abstract. Materials fee: $75 per term. Prerequisite: ART 114a or b or ART 130a or b, or equivalent.
